Flagging, othewise known as flagspam is a type of 'booru vandalism/spamming by a method of mass production where someone makes a bunch of low effort posts of a variant by photoshopping country flags into the 'jak.
The 100,000th SoyBooru get was some flagspam by GemersonLakeAndPalmer. This post has since been deleted.
Since July 3 2025, flagspam has to be tagged accordingly or it won't be allowed.[1] It's also by default blacklisted. Nowadays, flagging or any type of catty wipe attempts is now bannable, meaning that forcing memes will become rarer🗝️, but they can just spam their coal on /soy/.

Its main purpose is to inflate the variant's post count, which pisses off many users trying to find gems, while also making the 'ru more annoying to scroll through due to all the coal clogging up the 'log. When they run out of countries, they also may start editing in American state flags, Russian Federal Subjects, political ideologies, historical flags, or pride flags. Another reason it sucks is because most of the jaks created out of this are gonna be made from flags of irrelevant small countries which have no presence on the Sharty or its culture, making the jaks completely useless and never reposted. They also just lack any sort of originality and are extremely easy to make, which means that jaks created for this lack any sort of artistic merit or meme value besides just being annoying and clogging up space.
People who use this tactic are called Flaggots, both as a pun and because it's a portmaneau of "Flaming faggot" which is what they are. Its possible, though hard to prove, that Slopjaks started as both a parody of this practice and as a satire of Countrywars in general.

The roots of flagging can be traced back to the Cobson-Feraljak War, where both sides spammed country flag edits in order to overtake the other side in post counts. The first example of flagging in action though was the Cobson Gangnam Style dance spam.
Colorspam[edit | edit source]
With the blacklisting of flagspam, a new method of spam emerged where the uploader makes 6 thrembliion (Meds it's actually 16777216 because computers can display each three colors (red, green, blue) in one of 256 different values) colored edits of a soyjak, which technically isn't agains the rules. This was done with many variants such as pillowjak.

Though not particularly flag spam, on Soyjak Wiki, before Cobblestone went on her period and decided to delete every template (ev&doe she needed to anyways it was getting annoying), there used to be a chinktillion templates relating to a country, including SNCA ones like Italy. This further contributed to spam and looked like dogshit. Chances are, if you decide to add your own country's template, it's going to get removed.
