Ignoring refers to the act of refusing to acknowledge something and intentionally disregarding its presence. According to experts worldwide, ignoring things are the most effective combatant against forced memes, attentionwhores, bait and generally any group or phenomenon that relies explicitly on negative reception to gain popularity.[1]
Reasons to Ignore[edit | edit source]
As tempting as it may be to respond to the new forced variant of the month with 5-8 paragraphs about how awful it is and why the poster should kill himself, you should not do this. Most forced memes, forced variants, and the newest NAS media being spammed on the 'log by one desperate faggot depend on such negative attention to garner popularity and mark their place in sharty culture, even if it’s by every single poster hating it; and the only reason it stays up is so that the admins can farm PPH off of the seetheralds it generates. Thus, if you see someone trying to force somebrimstone on the 'log, you should not waste your time replying to it, calling it whatever mean words you can think of, or telling the poster to kill theirselves, as it will only give it more attention, and allow the baiter to force it even further. Instead, resort to simply ignoring the post to not give it any attention. No poster can go on forever, and will eventually give up once they notice that the antimatter they are trying to force is not generating any reppeys or seethe.
Pros of Ignoring[edit | edit source]
Ignoring something instead of engaging with it can have many benefits. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Preventing yourself from going into terminal leakage.
- Whatever coal is being posted to quietly slide down to the bottom of the 'log and vanish instead of being given attention.
- Discouraging others from forming a bandwagon of seethe under a particularly brimmy post, which would only cause it to stay on the 'log for even longer.
- Preventing the possibility of another war where people try to combat forced spamming with even more spamming and the whole 'log turns to shit.
- Having more time to spend with your family instead of arguing with retards on bald man with glasses website
- DNI with any discouraging or demoralizing posts
How to Ignore Something[edit | edit source]
Ignoring something, albeit a hard to master art, is very easy to learn. It is done by doing the following:
- Not acknowledging the post you wish to ignore
- Actively distracting yourself with something useful
- Being at peace with it and not worrying about it anymore
This may seem difficult but at first, but it is possible! Practice, meditation, and sproke can help you achieve the proper state of mind to perform such a task.
Advanced Methods[edit | edit source]
If what you're trying to ignore is being spammed at a particularly high rate and taking up the entire 'log or making it difficult to browse, you can try using filters to make the spamming not as obnoxious.
If even that does not work, you may want to try a particularly advanced method of closing the sharty and doing something else for some time while the spamming declines. This is one of the most advanced ignoring techniques of all, and it may take a while for you to learn how to perform it. Do not be discouraged if you open the sharty again 3 seconds after closing it for the first few times you try to do this.
List of things ignoring is particularly useful against[edit | edit source]
- Forced Memes
- Forced Variants
- Bait
- Spam
- Literal Whos
- People trying to troll back the hecking evil troll website (though this rarely happens because 90% of people online are spineless cowards nowadays)
- Anything you don't want to become popular
