Shimmie2 is an open source booru software written in PHP that is best known for being used by the SoyBooru from its inception in August 3, 2021, up until February 27, 2026, when it was replaced by with the current software, dubbed the nuuru.
Main features[edit | edit source]
- Like any proper booru, it has a tagging system, where users can append descriptive tags to uploaded images. (e.g. cobson_(HWABAG)).
- It has a very robust extension system. It has a core system, which handles the basic necessary functions (such as tags and post uploading), and almost everything else such as comments, user registration, forums is dependent on seperate extensions.
- It's very lightweight and performant
