A CAPTCHA is a response-based testing program designed to tell humans and bots apart. The term was coined in 2003 by four computer scientists, originating from a contrived acronym: Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart.

The Sharty has used multiple CAPTCHAs in the past, to deter bot nets from spamming the website. On the Sharty, CAPTCHAs are controversial, due to providing inconvenience, and concerns over datamining. Other websites in the Soysphere have also used CAPTCHAs.

hCaptcha is a captcha system developed by a 13 year old child using an image generation AI trained with 50 images and his PC to create AI generated images and tells you that you WILL identify the 3 silver mutated 60p cat images that looks like a chair twice. This captcha system was used in McChallenge until some obsessed frogniggers contacted hCaptcha support to shut down the sharty because of Operation VNC Rape. McChallenge now uses ReCAPTCHA, and we sadly continue to get datamined.

Geetest

This is what people take more than a second to solve.

Geetest was a CAPTCHA system used in Sharty implemented by Ronald. All you need to do was to complete one simple task by sliding the button to the other side of this CAPTCHA. That's why many soyteens liked it.

A typical reCAPTCHA (Haven't we done this enough times by now?)

Google Recaptcha (stylized as reCAPTCHA), though more accurately referred to as reCRAPtcha or reBRAPtcha^(owned), is an unethical datamining program that formerly forced users of 4chan and the Soyjak wiki to enable cross-site contamination and Javascript with Google, allowing them to peer into your computer and log your IP. The "neural network training" (unpaid forced labor, aka slavery) is simply a front put up to cover up reCAPTCHA's main purpose: to log everyone's internet activity and fingerprint them, tracking them across every website they visit that uses reCAPTCHA.

As you know, Google is one of the main companies working towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution. It is assumed that reCAPTCHA fingerprinting is used to track people's thoughtcrimes and speechcrimes, linking them to the real person (yes, even if they use Tor or a proxy). When UN blue-helmet 'peacekeepers' start showing up at soyjak.party users' houses to enforce the temporary extended length (indefinite) decrees of the New Normal, you can blame Soot for putting reCAPTCHA on the Wiki. Even THOUGH reCAPTCHA is now removed from the wiki, the damage has already been done and many users have been identified and fingerprinted.

ReCAPTCHA will randomly make images noisy to fuck with bots, but we're not even sure it works.

Project Maven

Data gathered with reCAPTCHA is potentially used by the Pentagon to train drones to identify things such as chimneys, people, vehicles, and so on. This project is known as Project Maven, which Google helped work on.

The implication of this is that an AI-controlled drone is making its own decisions about who to track and spy on (but definitely not kill) partly based off of 'training' from billions of random Internet users, including users of an Indonesian underwater basket weaving imageboard. Obviously, this would only ever be used for benevolent and worthy goals such as fighting Islamic terrorism. Trust the plan and eat the bugs!

Soot has used reCAPTCHA on a number of occasions to combat automated spam. He used to use this as a short-term solution while he is unable to actively moderate, and because soyjak.party's (i.e. Vichan's) "built-in captcha" didn't "work properly".

4chan

4chan users frequently reported having to solve multiple captchas, sometimes in the double digits, just to create one post, especially on /pol/. This was most likely Google attempting to suppress certain information and viewpoints from reaching users too quickly.

4chan thus dropped rcaptcha in favor of something homemade, with also privacy being a so called concern for them. Despite 4cuck being a honeypot.^{[it just is, ok?]} Anyway their new captcha is just slow and solving can easily be automated..
