Cryptocurrency is a digital and decentralized form of currency that is based on blockchain technology. Although originally regarded as a method through which shady hackers could exchange illegal material without federal oversight, it has become far more commonplace within the past decade. Today, cryptocurrency is a common avenue of financial speculation.

The first cryptocurrency, Bitcoin, was created by "Satoshi Nakamoto" in 2008; the first recorded transaction was the exchange of 10,000 BTC^{(this is worth hundreds of millions in USD today)} for a pizza. Over the course of the 2010s, Bitcoin's value grew immensely, and other cryptocurrencies (most notably Ethereum) began to pop up as well. Government responses to cryptocurrencies have varied widely across the globe: El Salvador codified cryptocurrency as legal tender (up until 2025), while China has banned it entirely.

As cryptocurrency became more well-known by the public, many shitcoins (low-value tokens attempting to replicate Bitcoin's meteoric rise) appeared; the most famous one,Dogecoin, was endorsed by Elon Musk ximself. Crypto rugpull schemes have become a common occurence, which invariably follow the same structure: the shitcoin's creators allot themselves tokens before the coin's release, the coin debuts to the public, retards spend millions of dollars on the token (the value of which then promptly plummets). This type of scheme is commonly referred to as a "Pump-and-Dump", and some people STILL fall for them despite this exact thing having happened dozens of times.

This should go without saying, but if (you) see a soy-related coin (e.g. something called "$SOY" or "$COB") being promoted, DO NOT FUCKING BUY IT. You VILL lose your money, and it will be entirely your own fault for being a gullible faggot.
