The SoyGNU Project is an open-source, community-driven digital media library dedicated to preserving and distributing content related to the sharty and the broader soysphere.[1] Launched by Soy Studios on 14 November 2025, the project describes itself as a public archive for soy-adjacent media and software. As of November 2025, the project remains in an explicitly early stage of development with no user-submitted content yet hosted.

Official licenses[edit | edit source]

For more soysphere licenses, read Free-software license.

Soy-GNU General Public License (SoyGPL)[edit | edit source]

The Soy-GNU General Public License (SoyGPL) is a derivative of the GNU General Public License version 3 (GPL-3.0), published on 14 November 2025 by the SoyGNU Project.[2] It consists of the complete, unmodified text of the GPLv3 with one additional term appended under Section 7:

>Any redistribution or modified version must include an unaltered file named HWABAG.png and a link to https://soyjak.st in the project’s top-level directory. The file is purely symbolic and must not affect program functionality.

Failure to include an image of Cobson and a link to the sharty constitutes a license violation. The license retains full GPLv3 copyleft and compatibility, and uses the SPDX identifier SoyGNU General Public Licence.

HWABAG-modified GNU Affero General Public License (Soy-AGPL)[edit | edit source]

Main article: GNU AGPL v3 License with HWABAG modifier

This instead uses AGPLv3 as a base, extending the copyleft obligation to modified versions run on public network servers. Like SoyGPL, it requires an image of cobson named HWABAG.png in every redistribution.[3]
