This page is a gem.
The Great Cuckset (also known as the 'ack) refers to an event that started on April 14, 2025, where someone who later named himself S0I1337 (also known as Captain Gem) would hack into 4cuck and reopen /qa/,[1] leak the source code as well as the jannies' IPs, emails and hidden board.
Two threads were stickied on /soy/ regarding this event,[2][3] both reaching thousands of replies until they were unusable.
The Hack[edit | edit source]
According to S0I1337 himself, it was not done through social engineering, betrayal or SQL injection, but instead via exploiting a vulnerability on 4chan's outdated GhostScript version from 2012 by uploading a malformed PostScript file renamed to PDF to gain arbitrary code execution, as 4chan didn't check if files with PDF extensions were actually PDF files.
It was also revealed that 4chan ran on FreeBSD 10.1, which went end-of-life in 2017,[4] outdated versions of nginx, PHP and MySQL and its source code was riddled with vulnerabilities; basically, it was just waiting to be exploited. Holy fucking GEG.
The servers were physically shut down to prevent further mining of the databases after a few minutes.
The hacker successfully leaked:
- 4chan's source code, including a 10,403 line PHP file called imgboard.php, all of which can be found here. On April 17, he leaked some more code here, which includes the admin panel and the Twister Captcha.
- The entirety of 4chan's /j/ (Janitor & Moderator Discussion) board since 2006, which can be downloaded here, with an easy-to-access web archive here.
- All recent staff IPs here.
- A list of jannies and their emails here, along with their passwords in the form of APR1 (MD5) hashes here.
- The janny IRC here.
- The names and emails of everyone who contributed to the Yotsuba git repo here.
- Which jannies moderated which boards here.
- Many images of the admin interface, which can be found in the original thread.
- My tripcode, aswell as probably your's.
- Every 4cuck user's clitty.
The event left a permanent mark on 4chan's history and to their dismay, soyjak.party becoming a part of 4chan's story.
Impacts[edit | edit source]
Source code[edit | edit source]
The source code leak revealed multiple things about how 4chan is actually ran:
- It confirmed that 4chan aggressively fingerprints its users.
- How shadowbans are applied.[5]
- Spaghetti code.
- It revealed that verification emails are used to track and ban users despite it explicitly stating that they're discarded after verification.
- It revealed that only "trusted" IPs can post in certain generals.
- It revealed that 4cuck has a special section for law enforcement requests in the admin panel. While the leaker does not think that 4cuck is a full-blown government run honeypot, it is damning evidence that der 'cuck glows.
- It exposed that jannies can ban users for "personal reasons".
- It confirms that the Federal Bureau of Investigation archives posts on their site.
Seems like the FBI has a taste for archiving BBC threads. - It leaked the set of filters used on each board.
- If you're not in certain countries[a], if you're using a phone, if you're on a new IP, or if the jannies simply don't like you, you get a 900 second cooldown before posting unless you give them your email address.
Technical effects[edit | edit source]
Both 4chan and the Shardee would experience server lag from a chaotic variety of issues.
From April 14th to April 25th, 2025, 4chan was completely down, yet at one point during the cuckset, 4chan's main page would actually load doebeit extremely slowly and without any formatting, making the site look like default HTML. No boards were actually accessible/available to post on.
Other from a few crashes, the sharty managed to stay up through the entire 11 days, although with some moderate server lag. Later during the first week of the event, the management of the Sharty decided to temporarily shut down the booru in order to accommodate for the increased traffic.
The final post on 4cuck before the 11-day outage was "Chicken Jockey" on /qa/.
For a period of time, enforcement of rules of all rules except 1-4, 6, and 8 and grey area rules were suspended.[6]
Immigration, PPH & Feedback[edit | edit source]
Some 4cuck rapefugees would depart to places like 8chan, Xitter and Discord, but most would arrive at the Sharty, either out of frustration, or simply out of convenience. The /soy/ board reached it's absolute peak at over 4400 PPH![7]
Other dead 'arty boards also had significant PPH boosts, either by the usual modern 4chan poster, or by hobby-board neurotypicalGODs who don't goon to loli porn all day. The boards most affected by the former were: /soy/, /qa/, /a/ and most notably /nate/
The well meaning 4chan refugees have praised the Sharty for its calmer community, wider array of QOL features such as MP4 support, user-enabled ID's, text styles, ability for threads to contain more than one image, porn being rare, and raids being allowed.[8][9][10]
While criticism mainly revolved around the lack of hobby boards and the site's slow performance, most non-retards did acknowledge it was due to the large traffic brought with the temporary migration.
After a vote by 9a0c, /g/, /v/, /tech/, /tv/ and /fit/ were added to handle the influx of newfags.[11]
Even after 4cuck returned, a collection of newcomers gained an interest in the Sharty[12][13], though later on most decided to either dual post or simply quit, likely due to the lack of proper hobby boards on the Sharty, making it not a viable 4chan replacement.
Seethe[edit | edit source]
Lots of 4cuckfags would make seethe threads on /soy/ and have their threads spammed with yotsuba soyquotes. Baiters were quick to take advantage of the situation by creating outlandish rants. A massive LARP-off unfolded as the unironic seethers, baiters, and soyquoters all tried to one-up each other.

Later on, /j/, the janitor board was leaked for a second time, giving a glimpse into some of the more recent janny policies and namefag drama:
- Jannies had a "mental health thread"
- Some moderators were (apparently, yet doubtedly) female
- /tv/'s baskinfag was extremely hated by jannies for samefagging, but also for spamming anti-indian posts on /int/
- Some jannies were using their university/
governmentemail addresses although most of these government addys were actually psyops by the Hal Turner Radio Show.[14]
Fate of the 'cuck[edit | edit source]
As 4cuck is now known to have barely updated the site in over a decade, and given that the entire source code has been leaked (revealing even more gemmy vulnerabilities), it can be assumed that 4cuck has experienced a devastating hack.
According to Ars Technica, Security researcher Kevin Beaumont described the hack as "a pretty comprehensive own" that included "SQL databases, source, and shell access".[15]
The hack is verifiably a somethingburger with serious consequences for 4cuck, on precedent of its scale (despite 4cucks trying to claim that as the passu billing information not being leaked due to the hacker's moral choices is somehow evidence of a failure though).
Even more concerning, is how the leaker claims to have had access to 4cuck's backend for a year before the hack, and that it was a slowburn in the making, implying apathy on the admin's part to not detect it in that long.
Their history of laziness on the development side [16], as well as Hiroshimoot literally forgetting he even owns his drunk purchase, 4cuck may genuinely be in danger, even now, over a year after the hack.
4chan's own Xitter account posted for the first time in 3 years to state, "It takes time" and that "We need time, cats, ponies and so on.".[17] These ominous messages left no confirmed ETA for when 4cuck would come back up, though the wording implied that it would take a lot longer than just a day.
To the dismay of many, 4chan ended up surviving, although it will never be the same as it was pre-hack; as now everyone (except for some normgroids) knows it’s run by trannies, Jews and glowies. Whether this is a good or bad thing is up to you.
Update (April 24th, 2025)[edit | edit source]
A leaked email from RapeApe put the ETA around April 28[18]. Although in reality, the site went up a few days earlier on the 25th, most likely due to the fact that the admins were running of out sheckels and wanted to get the site up as soon as possible
From the email it is now known that 4cuck has been using the some of the same server hardware since 2010, and that disabling PDFs and deleting /f/ - Flash after 9 days implies that any new changes are a bandaid fix onto to the bloody swiss cheese that is 4cuck's codebase. Assuming RapeApe and his 'cord buddies try to fix the code on their own, and assuming that it is as rushed and lazy as it sounds from the email, it is entirely possible that 4cuck won't even last very long online before it gets hacked, again.
Dread, you shall, for the nu-leakers surely won't be as nice with the user data.
And indeed, the site came back online the following day.
Fate of the 'arty[edit | edit source]
With the -ACKing of 4shart there was a wave of thousands of rapefugees entering various boards of the sharty, with some of them even trying to colonise the site. These efforts (thankfully) failed after a few days.
Attempts were made by our former frootist staff to alleviate the strain and push the rapefugees to other boards by the unhiding of /nate/, /int/ and the unlocking of /r9k/, aswell as the creation of a few new boards.
There have been several major news headlines discussing the "hacker collective calling itself the Soyjak Party". Jewtubers were rushing to make the next daily brimstone for their BLACKED audience.[19][20]
With 4cuck trending on xitter, fears were growing of a endless horde of newfags entering the 'arty combining the horrors of xitter and 4cuck. Thankfully, not that many newfags ever came (if at all), and many of the 4redditors were quickly rule 2 permabanned for posting loli/shotacon. As a result, the PPH started returning to normal levels.

"Hey guys". The acting military leader of the Sharty, and thus the new homelands of /qa/, Quote, would immediately call ALL news stations to report on the new Captain, known simply as Captain Gem, or his autonym, S0I1337. "The real Operation Soyclipse has commenced. Look at this." He calls Nate and the COBGQNG over to watch 4cuck, where they'd find... Captain Gem has CONQUERED 4CHAN. 4channers were shocked to hear that the Captain has hijacked their PAs to play Night of Nights, sharing their confusion at the /pol/itical square. PACKGOD leads armies into the new battlefield, soyteens in formation firing at trannyjannies all over; but that's not all! While PACKGOD and the Soyteens were busy defending /qa/, shooting any jannies that attempted to take Hatsune Miku hostage while they parade her around the newly conquered lands, Captain Gem got ONTO the presidential podium at the /v/ideo game arcade AND the /int/ernational embassy, throwing classified documents of the corrupt 4chan administration into the air! "YOU'VE BEEN HACKED! YOU'VE BEEN FUCKING CONQUERED! GEEEEEEEG! /QA/ WON! Lord Quote heard his call to attention, stickying the leak to the town square. "They claim 4chan is gonna come back online! No idea how true that is doe." he explains, Quote soon stepping in to verify: "This is true, I see it from my compromised United Republic of Kolyma telegraph.". Soyteens commented "Servers from 2010? Did the agencies update ANYTHING after King Moot left?" with others going "lmao, 'moving to a new server', yeah my ass nigger". The mocking was only intensified when a soyteen got back from the 4chan bunker, slamming down a secretly recorded video of jannies committing suicide due to the crushing defeat, causing them all to GEEG even harder, with even the frogs on the ground laughing at the stupid tranitors killing themselves. Miku notices some lights from the 4cuck towers, tapping Al Sneed on the shoulder. "Hey! Looks like they're trying to come back online again!".. Sneed went to check on the site, happening apon communications from a broadcast tower last used over a decade ago, broadcasting a test pattern. Then it was RapeApe, chancellor of 4chan, crying about the Captain, but announcing that 4chan's lights will be on once again. Sneed tells the Soyteens, who immediately geg at the jannies for trying to bring the city back on with such outdated infrastructure. "Really? They aren't even restructuring the designs after that bad of a failure?". Some 'teens even started building replicas of 4chan in their backyard, just to toy with it. Yet, 4chan turned their lights on after an extended period of total collapse, enough that multiple international reporters were even proclaiming 4chan having fallen permanently... But has it really returned? There's a major population decline, with jannies running a 1984 style watch over the 4cucks for signs of dissent from the regime or support of the Captain. Some even say that S0IL33T still has spiritual control over 4cuck... Their janny ranks are still totally exposed, with 'teens and chuds firing arrows at them for fun. Some 4cucks, back on the site, tried to proclaim that Sneedville itself was the bad guy, but that was quickly debooonked. The ruins of the 'jakker's original home, /qa/, as well as a suder favorite, /f/, were completely leveled by the jannies, but Sneedville still stands, now with a MAJOR victory under its belt! |
Second Great Cuckset[edit | edit source]
During the early morning of April 14, 2026, one year after the original Great Cuckset, 4chan went offline again. It came back online a few hours later, but it was effectively impossible to post, giving errors 9 out of 10 times. It seemingly ended late in the day on April 15. The cause of this is unknown, but no soyteen has claimed credit.
