The Great Cuckset (also known as the Liberation of /qa/ and The 'Ack) refers to an event that started on April 14th, 2025 (or April 15 depending on your time zone, it happened at midnight for AmeriGODS), where someone who later named himself S0I1337 (also known as Captain Gem) would hack into 4cuck and reopen /qa/[1], leak the source code as well as the jannies' IPs, emails and hidden board. A thread was stickied on /soy/ regarding this event.[2]
According to S0I1337, it was done by exploiting a vulnerability on 4chan's outdated GhostScript version from 2012 by uploading a malformed PostScript file renamed to PDF to gain arbitrary code execution as 4chan didn't check if files with PDF extensions were actually PDF files (not to be confused with Pedophiles), and not through social engineering, betrayal or SQL injection. It was also revealed that 4chan ran on FreeBSD 10.1, which went end-of-life in 2017[3], outdated versions of nginx, PHP and MySQL and its source code was riddled with vulnerabilities; basically it was just waiting to be exploited. The servers were physically shut down to prevent further mining of the databases after a few minutes, although it's unknown at the moment how much was successfully downloaded from 4cuck's servers.
The hacker successfully leaked:
- 4chan's source code, including a 10,403 line php file called imgboard.php, all of which can be found here.
- All of 4chan's /j/ board here, with an easy-to-access archive here.
- All recent staff IPs here.
- A list of jannies and their emails here, along with their passwords in the form of APR1 (MD5) hashes here.
- The janny irc here.
- The names and emails of everyone who contributed to the Yotsuba git repo here.
- Which jannies moderated which boards here.
- Many images of the admin interface, which can be found in the original thread.
- Every 4cuck user's clitty.
Impacts
Source code
The source code leak revealed multiple things and is expected to cause major problems for the 'cuck in the future. Multiple things came to light including:
- It confirmed that 4chan aggressively fingerprints its users.
- How shadowbans are applied.
- Spaghetti code.
- It revealed that verification emails are used to track and ban users despite it explicitly stating that they're discarded after verification.
- It revealed that only "trusted" IPs can create certain generals.
- It revealed that 4cuck has a special section for law enforcement requests in the admin panel. While the leaker does not think that 4cuck is a full-blown government run honeypot, it is damning evidence that der 'cuck glows.
- It exposed that jannies can ban users for "personal reason".
- It leaked the set of filters used on each board.
- If you're not in certain countries[a], if you're using a phone, or if you're on a new IP, you get a 900 second cooldown before posting unless you give them your email address for an allegedly "anonymous" site
Technical effects
As of 21 August 2026, 4cuck is completely down.
Both the 'cuck and the 'party would experience major server slowdowns from a chaotic mixture of back-and-forth immigration, DDoSing, and admin panic. At one point, the 'party was completely inaccessible, and the 'cuck took minutes to load. There is currently a lot of lag for the entire soyjak.st (not the IRC doe) and everything takes a good while to load. The management of the Sharty decided to shut down the booru in order to accommodate for the increased traffic. The final post on 4cuck was seemingly "Chicken Jockey" on /qa/.[it just was, ok?]
9a0c also announced that for a period of time, enforcement of rules of all rules except 1-4, 6, and 8 and grey area rules would be suspended.[4]
Immigration, PPH & Feedback
Many 4cuck rapefugees would come to the sharty after this. The /soy/ board reached it's absolute peak this month at over 4400 PPH![5] Some other dead boards had a good PPH boost by 4chan normalGODs who don't goon to loli porn all day.
The well meaning 4chan refugees have praised The Sharty for it's /calm/er community, wider array of features such as MP4 support, user-enabled ID's, text styles, ability for threads to contain more than one image, porn being rare, and raids being allowed.[6][7] [8]
While criticism mainly revolves around the lack of hobby boards and the site's slow performance, though most have acknowledge it is due to the large traffic brought with the migration.
After a vote by 9a0c, /g/, /v/, /tech/, /tv/, and /fit/ were added to handle the influx of 4cuck rapefugees.[9]
Seethe
Many 4cuckfags would make seethe threads in /soy/ and have their threads spammed with Yotsoyba soyquotes. Baiters were quick to take advantage of the situation by creating outlandish rants. A massive LARP-off has begun as the unironic seethers, baiters, and quoters are all trying to one-up each other.
/j/ leakage
The janitor board was also leaked for a second time, which gave a glimpse into some of the more recent janny policies and namefag drama. Jannies had a "mental health thread" and apparently there were multiple foid jannies. Also, it was confirmed that /tv/'s baskinfag was extremely hated by jannies not only for samefagging on /tv/ but also for spamming anti-indian posts on /int/ (Kek, it's kino!). It was determined that some jannies were using their university/government <-- FALSENVKE email addresses.
Fate of the 'cuck
As 4cuck is now known to have barely updated the site in over a decade, and given that the entire source code has been leaked (revealing even more gemmy vulnerabilities), it can be assumed that 4cuck has experienced a devastating hack that spells weeks-long maintenance, even for a better-managed website. According to Ars Technica, Security researcher Kevin Beaumont described the hack as "a pretty comprehensive own" that included "SQL databases, source, and shell access."[10] That is, the hack is verifiably a somethingburger with serious consequences for 4cuck, on precedent of its scale (despite 4cucks trying to claim that as the passu billing information not being leaked due to the hacker's moral choices is somehow evidence of a failure though).
Even more concerning, is how the leaker claims to have had access to 4cuck's backend for a year before the hack, and that it was a slowburn in the making, implying apathy on the admin's part to not detect it in that long. 4cuck's history of laziness on the development side (see: filesize limit stuck in 2005, features stuck in 2005, april fool's events getting progressively lazier, forgetting to delete unused april fools boards instead opting to lock them, corruption in jannies after nobody became left to keep them in check), as well as Hiroshimoot literally forgetting he even owns his drunk purchase, 4cuck may genuinely be in danger.
As the 'cuck admins would rather get themselves arrested for 50tb of 'p award instead of rewriting effectively the entire codebase to solve the outdated spaghetti code question, it is entirely possible that 4cuck will stay down— forever... JUST LIKE WHEN MY HECCIN' NOSTALGIC-ERINO LITTLEBIGPLANET SERVERS GOT TEMPORARILY SHUT DOWN FOREVER BECAUSE OF UNWHOLESOME HACKERS NOOO- I MEAN YOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!
4chan's own Xitter account posted for the first time in 3 years to state, "It takes time" and that "We need time, cats, ponies and so on."[11] This ominous messages leave no confirmed ETA for when 4cuck will come back up, though the wording implies that it's going to take a lot longer than just a day. 4cucks will try to insist that the site will be coming back tomorrow no wait in just a few days FUCK xisters we guessed wrong again by Sunday 2 more weeks and Moot will triumph over the jewish slide-threadist deep-shartyshit state or whatever. After they update their entire 20-year-old site infrastructure in the timespan of a few days, of course. Already, estimates for how long 4cuck has until it comes back online range from a week (if jannies switch to modified vichan as a as way to get the site back without thinking) to a few weeks/months (if they choose to refactor the original php codebase), to never, ever, not in a thrembillion years because we murdered it (somewhat unlikely but not impossible, hiromoot has (((financial incentive))) to keep 4cuck up in name as a medium to sell passes and serve BLACKED ads). Another factor that may complicate bringing 4cuck back online is the question of what to do regarding all the old mods now that they have been forcibly deanonymized, and how native /pol/ schizos will react after having their suspicions confirmed of 4cuck's dirty secrets and cooperation with glowies.
The 'cuck is still down as of 21 August 2026, and things only seem to be getting worse for them. Their future may be uncertain.
Fate of the 'party

With the -ACKING of 4cuck there's a wave of thousands (est. 10k+) <---try 12 million of 4cuck refugees entering boards such as /soy/, /pol/ and /qa/ leading to the worst newfag invasion in 'arty history as these refugees attempt to integrate/dominate the culture. Attempts have been made by our frootist staff to alivate the strain and push the rapefugees to other boards by the unhiding of /nate/, /int/ and the unlocking of /r9k/.
Now as of writing there are several major news headlines discussing the "hacker collective calling itself the Soyjak Party"[12] and sloptubers are rushing to make the next daily brimstone for their BLACKED audience.[13]
With 4cuck now trending on xitter fears are growing of a endless horde of newfags entering the 'arty combining the horrors of xitter and 4cuck, there may be unforeseen consequences (MUH HECKIN HALF LIFE REFERENCE)...May Allah have mercy on us all.
Thankfully, many of the 4redditors have been rule 2 permabanned for posting loli/shotacon, as a result the amount of pph is going back to normal levels.
