Emmanuele Bassi, also known by his alias as ebassi (as well as ebussy by obsessed detractors from 4cuck), is an IRL soyjak best known for being a developer of the GNOME Desktop Environment. He is a by far the most notorious part of what makes GNOME an unusable iToddler baby larp desktop environment that lacks basic features like the minimize and maximize buttons by default, system tray icons, and thumbnails for GNOME's file-picker until it FINALLY got added in at a certain point. He gained notoriety on 4cuck's /g/ board when people were publishing issues for GNOME which are features that are missing for the desktop and Bassi would mald and seethe at them telling them that there is "no usecase" then closing the issues pissing people off in the process for it which would end up becoming a meme. He's basically the scapegoat for why GNOME lacks basic features.

History

[edit | edit source]

Ebassi has been developing for GNOME since at least the 2000s. The obsession and hatred started on /g/ on 4chan as far back as 2021 or earlier when people are complaining about him refusing to add features to GNOME for some SNCA reasons.[1] People starting making memes about him over this to the point that Bassi himself noticed and called them "4chan trolls".

Soyjak variant

Ebassi is a DEAD VARIANTThis soyjak variant gets posted on the 'log less than once a month.
Only (You) can revive it.

In 2024, an anonymous user on /g/ made a soyjak based off of him traced off of his GitHub avatar.[2] It was rarely used and there aren't much edits of it. It was uploaded to the booru shortly after with the name of the variant being "ebassi".
