Elliot Oliver Robertson Rodger, also known as ER or The Supreme Gentleman was an incel who committed the 2014 Isla Vista killings. He is to blame (to some degree) for creating the Incel movement, or at least, the iteration of it we know today.
Early life[edit | edit source]
Originally born in the UK, he lived the majority of his life in the USA. He was the son of a very wealthy film maker, who divorced his first wife (the one who she had Elliot with). He has described many times in his manifesto "My Twisted World: The Story of Elliot Rodger.", that he had a lot of trouble communicating with girls, a problem which was only going to be exacerbated as time went on. He also had a younger brother, who he saved from drowning at one point. He would generally spend his time playing video games, especially "World at Warcraft".[1]
Digital Footprint[edit | edit source]
Compared to other criminals and shooters, he had a very conspicuous Internet presence. He posted on a lot of forums, such as the ones which centered around bodybuilding (Where he also admitted that he had a small dick, geg). He's most impactful presence was on Youtube, where he would post vlogs talking about random stuff, whether we're talking about family, personal life, or, you guessed it, women. Women would be the subject he would talk about constantly, many videos revolving just how terrible the world is because, despite being a rich person with good looks (according to him), women would constantly reject him. (I've read through some of his manifesto, and if everything that he says there is true, then this guy allegedly never approached a woman ever. He basically expected women to materialize in front of him).
In his last video, and his most popular one at the same time, he explained how he was going to have revenge against the women and chads for all the suffering he endured. His manifesto and his journals have also been widely released to the public.[2]
The Attack[edit | edit source]
The Isla Vista killings in 2014 also known as the Day Of Retribution. He wanted to target women especially a sorority but could not get inside because the door was locked so he changed his plan, he killed three roommates then carried out shootings in the streets, six people were killed and fourteen were injured, the attack ended after he crashed his car and died by suicide.
Influence[edit | edit source]
Whilst the term incel existed way before his attack, Elliot Rodger has been considered the father of the Incel movement, being called the "supreme gentleman", a reference to the fact that he used to call himself a gentleman a LOT.
The struggles he talked about in his videos were relatable to a plethora of lonely man, some of them even becoming killers themselves, such as Tres Genco and Jake Davidson.
On Incels.is, a popular forum for incels, Elliot Rodger is praised a lot, many even calling him a saint and then using terms such as "going ER", which means going out by doing a killing spree.[3]
