Salt[c] aka Saltydkdan is the current and 6th owner of soyjak.party, the admin of SoyBooru, and of this very wiki. On August 9th, 2026, control of the site was transferred to him by Quote during the Second Great Handover. The transfer resulted in an outage lasting roughly 10-20 hours[it just is, ok?], reportedly due to complications with moving site infrastructure. Little is known about Salt personally, although several major changes marked the beginning of his tenure. All Quote-era bans were pardoned, many of Quote's jannies were removed from the staff roster, and Salt announced plans to restructure the site rules, most notably removing rule 7.
His arrival also coincided with a large PPH spike, which exceeded 2,300 at 4:59 AM UTC on August 9th, 2026. He was initially received positively by many 'teens on both SoyBooru and the Sharty, in large part due to Quote's unpopularity and inactivity. His early reforms led some 'teens to compare him to the prophetic Admin Οͺ; others believe he is the site's accursed Admin 6. Some 'teens also initially speculated that Salt was merely Quote LARPing under a new identity; however, this theory has since largely fallen out of favor, likely due to his drastic changes and general lack of similarity to Quote.
Unlike his predecessors, Salt has expressed hostility towards namefagging and generally posts under the generic Administrator capcode or variations of the word "Administrator". The nickname "Salt", along with any other nicknames, was given to him by 'teens shortly after the beginning of his tenure to distinguish him from previous administrators and give him a more recognizable identity. So far his only comment on his nickname was him saying he liked salt when asked what his favorite condiment is. He acknowledged the nickname on SoyBooru as "what people call me".[3] During his administration, he has made a significant effort to relax many of the rules of the Sharty and its sister sites.
History

[edit | edit source]On his first day as owner, Salt banned namefagging on /soy/, Averi, Smuglet, and VPNs, although the VPN ban was accidental and quickly reverted. He also temporarily removed namerolls, but restored them after the removal proved unpopular with 'teens, later removing them again. Salt then cattywiped /j/, his reasoning being that there was "too much porn" left over from Quote's janny cabal. He also removed the Doctos wordfilter and other wordfilters to everyone's praise[4], and pardoned all Quote-era bans, which temporarily allowed many undesirables to post to the site again, though the more reasonable bans were likely reinstated shortly after. Salt also deleted /craft/, much to the chagrin of Mist.[5] He had also caused Mist's clitty to leak, resulting in his ban.

Data breaches

An unfortunate series of data breaches coincided with the first few days with Salt's administration, such as the source code to the Sharty, a two-year dump of posts including identifiable information, and a large list of scraped IPs. This was likely due to vulnerabilities within the Sharty's MPA system.
Rule changes
[edit | edit source]Salt gave high priority to rewriting the rules, allowing gore, 'cado, and Roblox discussion. This resulted in an immediate wave of gore spam and Roblox threads.[6] He also cracked down on /soy/'s porn issue, though it appears on other boards from time to time. He also made changes to Rule 3 of the Sharty, which some people opposed, claiming that it would allow people from hostile splinters and other places to freely post to the site. The gore rule changes resulted in gorequoting becoming a common phenomenon on /soy/.

On August 20th, 2026, he answered various questions in a /soy/ thread.[8]
Acting wiki admin
[edit | edit source]On August 13th, 2026, Salt stepped in as the acting wiki administrator after the 2026 Soyjak Wiki hack. He undid Troonitite's vandalization, and announced that he did not plan to give anyone else administrative privileges for the sake of security. As the wiki admin, he promoted Soyoyuki, the former owner of SECApedia, to a moderator, in order to help carry out his and Cobblestone's plan to expand the scope of the 'ki. He also tweaked the wordfilter in order to be more in line with the main site.
Takeover of SoyBooru
[edit | edit source]Salt transferred the servers of SoyBooru on August 21, 2026, effectively assuming ownership of the site.[9][10][11] . Proceeding, he announced there will be a "restructuring" of the 'ru,[12] with him demoting all current jannies/moderators and replacing them with anonymous ones.[13] Salt would also remove Mustard as administrator, but keep him as developer, saying "i dont see the problem in using him for free laborποΈ".[14]
IRC shutdown

Glowie allegations
[edit | edit source]A merge of allegations calling salt out to be a glowie were revealed on /soy/. Many 'teens stopped posting or went to other DNB splinters because of this, but the person who revealed the glownigger allegations later accidentally revealed ximself to be bluffing and xhe was using ai to make the bait in the first place. [They just did, ok?]

In a furry bait thread, after defending such content being posted on the 'party[15], 'teens asked him to make a Mii of himself, which resulted in something looking oddly effeminate [16], with some 'teens saying it has "caused the total aura loss of salt" and "He couldn't have made his character look gayer if he tried".[17] He later said that he thought the hair was orange because his nightlight was on, and he was embarrassed when he found out the hair was pink.[18] In the thread, he has said that he would put the UTTP hat on it, for some reason.
'Teens proceeded to make threads requesting the creation of soysonas based on it, which resulted in mostly coal due to the nature of the source material
Salt hires failtrolls

In a /raid/ and a /asg/ thread on the swinny users uncover a high ranking polish sharty staff IP that also belonged to a random failtroll known as "UTTPofficersigma" according to a UTTPpedo ip leak, users first thought that the IP belonged to Ronald[it just is, ok?] but it was later revealed that the IP did not belong to Ronald and that Ronald is still British but rather it belonged to another sharty staff, this could possibly mean that an actual failtroll is a sharty janny.
Dox

On October 3rd, an alleged dox of Salt and his girlfriend is posted to /soy/.[21] It is for all intents and purposes a faildox; according to prison records the name Kevin Duane Harris belongs to an African-American, directly contradicting the given ethnicity of Anglo-Saxon. Presumably, this pathetic fail amused Salt so much he decided to sticky it, though some hunkies remained so convinced of the dox that they seriously and genuinely speculated that Salt's stickying of the post was somehow him reverse-Streisand-effecting the situation. You can't make this up.

Reception

When Salt first replaced Quote, he was met with resounding approval from 'teens, as Quote had set the bar extremely low during his reign. Many drew comparisons between him and the prophesied Admin Οͺ. However, his approval rating among some people due to his lack of more recent action and perceived allowance of undesirable behavior on the Soysphere, mostly in relation to the allowance of things like bait quotes, ironic failtroll falseflagging, and most of all, gore. The majority of users still hold the belief that he is AT LEAST better than Quote, however, ever since OGD was unbanned, even this sentiment is somehow slipping among the masses.
His complete unbanning of gore is a topic of dissent among soyteens, as it is often spammed on the major boards. Many also find his "anonymous Janny" system ineffective, and able to cause massive problems. He had a period of absence due to his vacation in late August, wherein he effectively disappeared from the public eye, with offsiters taking advantage of that and spamming 'p by using trusted IPs. He would apologize for his inactivity in a Soybooru thread after returning from vacation,[37] and fully return on September 8th with another apology, announcing plans for a new board on the Sharty, and a revamp for the wiki,[38] though he remains somewhat inactive and difficult to contact at times, leading to some believing he is neglectful of the 'sphere much like Quote. He defends his relative inactivity, saying "i have a job friends a girlfriend family pets and things to do outside of this website"[39]. Many people also criticize him for his relaxation of Rule 3, which has allowed people to get away with much more in terms of offsiting.
However, that is not to say all of his decisions are universally despised- his removal of the DOCTOS -> OMGSISA wordfilter was met with near-universal praise from users sitewide, and his pseudo-banning of Smuglet was praised by many, largely due to it being an effective Soylita substitute. One of his main issues is his inactivity, which in comparison to Quote's combined issues of neglect, defense of horrid people, and forcing of niggercoal on the site, is still seen as a major improvement.
Some of Salt's unpopular decisions resulted in the "October Uprising".
Generally, Salt is an okay guy, however his love from the community is slipping quickly with each questionably sane policy. OGD and 'g drama have begun to slowly rot his reputation, but he's still holding on due to his more anarchic approach, which is beloved by a significant part of the community, as well as his generally lax nature.
