Namefags are darker than coal...

Namefag is a term used to refer to users of imageboards such as 4chan and the Party who have decided to ignore the default anonymity of the site by giving themselves a name or another distinguishing characteristic. Users who post images of the same fictional character (it could be from anything like a videogame, anime, movie, show, book, etc or their own original creation) regardless of content are known as Avatarfags, while users who have unique tripcodes are known as Tripfags.

Namefaggotry and tripfaggotry is enabled by most imageboards, but the feature is widely disliked by the users because of how rife it is among trannies and attention whores, and because it's not permitted by the fucking oldchad culture. As a mechanic, posters can start a name/trip by entering one into the appropriate field in the reply form. Unlike pretty much every site with registration, Namefags on imageboards are easy to impersonate since anyone can just put their name in the post field and it'll appear the same. Therefore, namefags should be disregarded because they suck cocks and are trans btw if that matters.

Most of the people who edit this very 'ki are namefags, as they are sensible enough to not reveal their IP^{[evendoe browser sandboxes exist]}.

On SoyBooru, namefags have alot of influence and usually get into drama wars. The term namefag eventually got filtered to attentionwhore there.

On the sharty, the name field was removed, rendering namefagging in the traditional sense impossible. However, on some splinters, namefagging and its cousin tripfagging can still be achieved, either through traditional methods, by putting stuff in the subject field, or using the fucking email field nobody cares about. Plus, if namefagging on an imageboard doesn’t give you enough attention, there are plenty of other places you can namefag on anyways.

Tripfags

Tripfags are a subset of namefags who use unique password-hashed tripcodes so as to prevent impersonation by everyone without the password. Unless they're dumb fucks and have only a single ! in their tripcode, in which case anyone with a tripcode cracking engine can impersonate them given enough time and processing power, this is because when typing a double hash before your tripcode (eg. "##retarded_tripfaggot"), the tripcode is hashed using sha256 with a unique server-sided code. This makes vanity tripfagging an already used alias impossible.

Vanity Tripfags

Despite being devised as a secure cryptographic signature, some based retards use custom tripcode generators such as Meriken's Tripcode Engine to fish for a custom trip that spells their name or whatever sequence of characters they're willing to spend enough computational power on. Cool I guess?

Avatarfags

Avatarfags are posters who use specific images to break anonymity similarly to namefags, whether it be a character from a movie, television, book etc. or just a random image. Despite there being a no avatarfagging rule on both 4cuck and the Party, we still have a few of them^[who?]. They are often given nicknames which get them confused for namefags, but many namefags are avatarfags too though.

While most avatarfags are unfunny Trannies, in rare cases some of them are actually funny and give birth to new memes and creativity, but the majority of them are just annoying spergs who have to be special by wasting bandwidth, scrollwheel durability, and threads' usable image limit.

Stalking

/sp/ tripfag UTV (!MjaFqpDkME) was advised to change his name and flee the country after a mentally-ill gigachad stalker posted a massive diary and fanfic-infodump about him. Indeed, he stopped posting immediately after and has never been heard from since. • Gapelee - A nulee and unfunny faggot who pretends to hate Gapejak because he thinks it's funny. He responds to posts including gapejak with "Kys gapejak spammer". Exposed as a pedophile on April 19, 2024 after some creepy keyed 'teen posted about having access to a girl's USB in his art class and asked in a thread what to do with it, and attached a Gapejak holding a heart. • Lunamedia - Gavin Christopher NewsomEdward Herman, more known as Lunamedia, was a pedochud and failed lolcow on 4cuck (especially in the infamous /TLHG/) and the Party. He self-proclaimed to be the second Chris Chan and was brimmy and obsessed with Luna Loud, the dyke from The Loud House (a Nicktroon), and shipping her with a minor character named Sully rather than her canon boyfriend Yosemite Samgirlfriend Sam, to the point of trying to do a heckin' movie about it. He not only acted like Chudjak, to the point of thinking Trump is evil, but looked like a blond version of him. He lived in Houston, TX.
