Soyjak shows his phone (also known as Phoneplier) is a soyjak subvariant depicting (usually) a Markiplier Soyjak excitedly showing something on the screen of his smartphone. The subvariant is believed to have originated on Facebook in 2020 with an image depicting Markiplier wearing an "I fucking love science!" T-shirt and holding up a tweet of a scientific article posted by Joe Rogan on his phone. When this image (and a similar one depicting The Joe Rogan Experience being held up by the same soyjak) went viral, the variant became widespread on Facebook, Twitter, 4chan, soyjak.party, and elsewhere.
A similar variant, known as Phoneboy, never took off.
