Originally created by namefag SanrioWABAG on the schlog, the jak was originally only meant to depict and make fun of Terrycrews. That's how it stayed for months merely as a gimmick, until getting revived in 2025 when multiple schlog users decided to create Terryjak variants to use as profile pics.[1][2] This caused some seethe in others on the schlog,[3] but had the unintentional side effect of reviving terryjak on the booru, making the variant get used to depict many others unrelated to Terry herself, comparable to what happened to Satoko_houjou_fan and Meximutt.
