Nuvariant
A nuvariant or nujak is a type of soyjak variant that's considered to be recently created.
The official time frame for a variant to be considered new is less than a year old[1]. Unofficial definitions can range from a month old, to since Cobson's creation.
Reception[edit | edit source]
Nuvariants are controversial, due to perceptions of them being forced coal, and due to spamwaves occuring. The line between a soyjak being a nuvariant and variant:unknown is thin, and if it gets forgotten quickly, it becomes a variant unknown. Controversial nuvariants can get banned and get their tags removed. This officially transforms them into a variant:unknown. Despite perceptions, nuvariants can be gems.
Optimistic soyteens see nuvariants as potentially sharty-saving. Their reasoning is that jakkers only have the same few variants to use, which is getting boring, and that new faces to work with can vitalize creativity. Gemmy nuvariants have been created before, but they're few in number, and receive criticism.
Movements[edit | edit source]
An earlier movement, called the Cobson Killer movement, also involved older nuvariants. This movement was infamous for producing lemons. In the movement's twilight, dusty nuvariants of the time were mocked with the catchphrase "Cobson killer". This movement lasted from 2022 to 2023.
The Brimstone Winter movement is a seasonal movement in which soyteens pump out as many nuvariants as they can for the winter. It's recognized as beginning on January the 1st, every year, since the first event, which was started in 2023. As the name suggests, most of the nuvariants are expected to be brimstone. However, the end goal is to produce at least one gemmy nuvariant from all the coal.
With the creation of the Poopson myth, another movement superceded the Cobson Killer movement. From mid-2023 to 2024, soyteens rushed to create Poopsons. These nuvariants were intentionally brimstone. There was also the expectation that the real Poopson would be created in January 2024, leading to the Poopson Incident.
The Nuvariant movement is the most recent movement, and the namesake of the soyjak trend. The prime movement started in 2024. Lennonjak soured the movement, changing the goal from having the nuvariant catch on, to getting the nuvariant banned. This submovement is similar to the Poopson movement.
Official Recognition[edit | edit source]
Officially, the Sharty Administration has started a Nuvariant contest. For creating the greatest nuvariant, the prize would be a Soygem Pass and a personal board. The same prize was promised for making the best art for a new Media Pending Approval banner. The personal board prize has not been publically observed. The winner of these contests aren't clear.
